I am really pleased to have been chosen to campaign here in Cardiff South and Penarth. Since I have moved here, Cardiff has very quickly felt like my home. It is a great city with a lot to offer, but I believe it can be even greater. Cardiff South and Penarth is a great area. I love the parts of it I know already, and I am really looking forward to getting to know it better.

About Dominic

I was born in Cornwall, where I lived till I was 18. I went to Cape Cornwall School and Penwith College. Before I went to University I spent some time travelling in Europe, working in the tourism industry in Croatia, Italy and France. I then came to Cardiff to study, and I still live in the city today.

Before starting my university career in Cardiff, I took a close interest in education, at all stages. My mother is currently a primary school teacher and my father also has a background in education. I joined the Liberal Democrats because I felt that under both Labour and the Conservatives, education in the United Kingdom had suffered greatly, through under investment by the Conservatives and increased centralisation and bureaucracy under Labour.

Since joining the Lib Dems, my political interests have increased. I am now passionate about the environment and am a keen cyclist. I believe the Lib Dems have the best policies for dealing with global warming. Labour have failed to take this issue seriously.

I also care a great deal about crime and policing. I am campaigning for a clearer justice system, and a big investment in policing at all levels, together with more measures to tackle the causes of crime and deprivation. Labour have talked tough, but all they have done is waste money on plans for ID cards and police mergers. I want to see real action on crime.
